Description

An L-shaped corner desk with an integrated bookshelf, finished in white oak. The shelf unit mounts on either the left or the right, so the desk fits the corner you actually have rather than the one the manufacturer assumed.

Who it suits

Corner desks earn their keep by turning an awkward angle into usable surface, and this one adds storage on top of that. At 100cm wide and 70cm deep it is a genuine working footprint rather than a token compact desk, and the 74cm height is standard, so a normal office chair fits underneath without adjustment.

It suits a home office, a bedroom corner, or a gaming setup where the tower needs somewhere to live that is not the floor.

The shelf is the useful part

The partitions are height-adjustable, which is what separates this from a fixed bookcase bolted to a desk. That means the shelf bay can be sized for a desktop PC tower, or reconfigured for books, folders and storage boxes. If you run a full-size tower, check its height against the bay before you commit to a shelf layout.

The reversible build is decided at assembly, not afterwards. Work out where the desk is going first, because it determines which hand reaches the shelves, which side your light falls on, and whether the tower blocks a radiator or a door. Reversing it later means partially dismantling the unit.

Build

A steel frame with an MDF top, with diagonal braces on both sides that do the real work of keeping an L-shaped frame from racking under load. Adjustable foot pads let it sit level on an uneven floor, which matters more than it sounds on older floorboards or a thick carpet. The finish is painted and scratch resistant.

Before you buy

  • Measure the corner, both walls. An L-shape needs clearance on two runs, and 70cm of depth is deeper than a standard desk.
  • Check the shelf bay against your PC tower if that is what you plan to put in it.
  • Decide the shelf side before assembly, not after.
  • It is fixed height. If you want to alternate sitting and standing, this is not that desk.
